Generator-ready homes
Plan a Generac or Kohler standby generator into your new home from the start, with the pad, gas and transfer switch designed in.
Generator-ready homes: an overview
On the upper Texas coast, a standby generator is one of the most useful things you can put in a new home. And a new build is the easiest time to do it: the location, fuel line, electrical panel and transfer switch can all be planned before walls are closed and landscaping is in.
Because Kelm Construction is part of the same family as Kelm Power Systems, a certified Generac and Kohler dealer, generator readiness isn’t an add-on. Clint Kelm has installed and serviced standby generators since 2005, and the plumbing and electrical licenses needed for the fuel and wiring work are held in-house.
You can install the generator during the build, or prepare the home for one later by sizing the panel, roughing in the gas line and planning the pad. After move-in, Kelm Power Systems can maintain the unit, set up remote monitoring and service it for years.
